A graduate of the 1976 Fanshawe Photography program, Bob fell in love with the emergence of the print in the developer. Working in this field has introduced him to thousands of photographers, their work and their visions. He continues today, just as excited in making fine crafted prints.
27 years is a long time to continually print for photographers. In 1991, after 15 years of apprenticing and working with various technicians and labs in Toronto Bob Carnie started the Silver Shack. Since 1991 Bob has continued to stubbornly keep running a wet darkroom as many if not all other labs decided to get rid of them.
This unique exhibition showcases not only Bob’s personal work over the last 27 years , but many of the prints that he has had the pleasure of working on and keeping as his printer proofs memories of these shows. This show demonstrates many styles or looks and as well the progression of working styles of the photographers and indeed Bob’s personal work.
